I have been to Ruins, one of the famous areas of Bacolod. The Ruins was the ancestral mansion of the family of wealthy sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson built on a 440 hectare sugar plantation in Talisay, City Negros Occidental in the early 1900's in memory of his Portuguese wife Maria Braga Lacson, who died during the birth of their eleventh child. During World War 2, Filipino guerillas burned it down as a countermeasure to prevent the invading Japanese forces from using it as a military office. It burned for 3 straight days. Until I knew the history of this building, I thought it was just a small castle, but the moment I found out why it was built, I felt the power of love is great and the power of man is great. I have visited this historical site twice. The first time I visited during the day. But I found out that the Ruins at night were more beautiful. Then I visited again at sunset to meet the more beautiful Ruins. The Ruins in the sunset were shining. It was a building with a different feeling from the day. There were foreigners and many locals because it was a tourist attraction. What I definitely felt was that the power of people to love people, whether it be our country or other country, is very great and beautiful. If people around me visit the Philippines, I really want to recommend Ruins. Although I can't go anywhere now because of Coronavirus, it became my precious memory.
