Travel abroad and discover different cultures, meet new people and experience what the world has to offer. I never thought that my dream would take me to Philippines. There are a thousand reasons not to go to this country but there are countless reasons as well to do so, and I’m more than glad that I did. Philippines is a melting pot of different cultures. If you want a taste of the Western and Eastern culture then this is the place to be because this country has been dominated by the Americans, Japanese and the Spaniards. This is a clear variety of tourism all rolled into one. Think about the great ancient churches, towers, museums, and infrastructures that date since the World War II. Sight-seeing is the best that you can do here in the Philippines. Each region has something great to offer. Almost everything here is natural scenic scenery. The Chocolate Hills in Bohol, the perfect cone shape of Mayon Volcano of Albay, and the underground River of Palawan to name a few. It was just regretful i did not get the chance to visit these places. To call the Filipino dish ‘adobo’ delicious is an understatement. It is a sumptuous and delectable dish that you just can’t get enough of. How about ‘Green mango’, ‘Kare-kare’ and ‘Sinigang’? Surely, Filipino cuisine is really exceptional. But there is still one exotic food which I have tried the best – the ‘Balut,’ is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled alive and eaten in the shell. And mind you I will need to muster all the courage in the world to eat this food. But after having tried this food, I swear I would love to try it again. The shoreline and beaches of the Philippines is really an astonishing view. This is the perfect place to sun bathe and have some fun under the sun. The refreshing cool water would surely give your body the much needed relaxation. I can say that the best beach I have been through in Subic is ‘Grande Island’ this beach has magnificent view and the people were very welcoming. Grande Island is like a paradise and you just can’t leave Subic without having been there. Intramuros is also one of the best places I have been to. Nicknamed the "Walled City", Intramuros is the historic fortified city of Manila, the seat of the government during the Spanish Colonial Period. Its name in Latin, Intramuros, literally means "within the walls". Districts beyond the walls of Manila were referred to as extramuros, literally "outside the walls." Although Manila is quite crowded for me and is also a little dirty. I can say that the people are very kind and very friendly. The malls are very big and so wide compared to other malls in other country. The Mall of Asia is the biggest mall in the Philippines and also one of the biggest in Asia. Greenbelt in Makati is also good especially for elite people because this mall offers a mix of high-end retail shops, restaurant, amenities, leisure and entertainment in the Philippines. But of course, Subic where I have studied is the best part of my stay. Me and my friends have been to a lot of beautiful places and have seen many beautiful sights still, we all would choose to come back in Subic where we always find peace and harmony. Subic also offers a lot of good places, especially beaches. It is famous for its beaches where tourists can’t help but to come back. But the greatest thing about the Philippines is its people. The people in Subic where I have studied are unforgettable. The warm hospitality of the people is really the pride of the Filipinos. You will never feel that you are in a different country because of the love of the people here. And if I am given a chance again, I would like to come back in the Philippines for another experience and this time, I will make it worthwhile. |
